A NEW KICK OFF for WELLNESS! Attention GOOD VIBE TRIBE!

Hello to all my wellness warriors! Over the last couple of months, I have been truly blessed to expand my practice in the realm of personal clients and also corporations in search of wellness at countless levels.   The www.wellconsulting.org website can now be reached nationally and has become a full service for many of the tribe for their monthly high quality supplements. It has been enlightening over the past months in my practice and various speaking summits to meet so many members of the “Good Vibe Tribe!”  Thank you for bringing your essence and vitality into my life!

Per request from some of my Gladiators of Wellness, I will be doing a weekly supplement education and demystification.  So many of us find healing and wellness through our favorite medicine of FOOD!  Unfortunately, even with the best food choices, we may still wind up deficient in much needed nutrients to fuel our bodies and minds.  I will be highlighting some ‘game-changing’ supplements for you.  The update goal is to be weekly, but be patient with me because I too am trying to cherish and embrace some last glimpses of summer with my two amazing children and my gem of a husband.  With that being said, lets kick off the first

Sensational Supplement of the Week: Vitamin D3

Vitamin D3:

Vitamin D is not actually a vitamin, but technically a hormone.  It regulates calcium, bone metabolism, and prevents depression.  Scientists are discovering multiple links between Vitamin D and a range of conditions, including cancer and autoimmune diseases.  Indeed a growing number of evidence suggests that people with low levels of vitamin D may be at a higher risk for osteoporosis, colorectal cancer, breast cancer, hypertension, and autoimmune disorders such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, and lupus.  Evidence shows that vitamin D bolsters the immune function by activating T-cells to attack and destroy pathogens.  T cells also become “helper cells” that allow the body to recognize invader cells, which could be one of the reasons Vitamin D also helps maintain healthy weight.  Most of us do not get nearly enough of vitamin D.  The vitamin is tough to obtain from food (salmon and sardines make good choices) and though our bodies make it in response to sunlight, it is difficult to get enough exposure during winter months.  Surprisingly, even in sunny Arizona and Hawaii there is a rising Vitamin D deficiency.

How to Take:  It is recommended for adults to take 2000- 5000 IU of vitamin D3 a day.  The best way to personalize your dosage is 1000 IU / 25 pounds of body weight. It’s true that you can get adequate vitamin D from sun exposure, but for non-nudist non-equatorial dwellers it is just not enough.  If you’re getting adequate vitamin A, it’s almost impossible to overdose on D, as well as Vitamin K2 (see further in future blogs on this amazing vitamin too.)

Important studies from the Cleveland Clinic found that patients who took a Vitamin D supplement with their biggest meal of the day boosted their bone levels of the bone builder by more than 50 percent.  So take this one with your largest meal of the day!   NOTE:*People with brown/black skin do not convert sunlight into vitamin D as quickly as lighter skinned people.  If you’re brown skinned, a safe bet is 1500 IU / 25 pounds of body weight, but you should always test your blood levels because individual response to dosage varies.

SENDING THE LIGHT RIGHT BACK TO YOU~

I hope that you are all enjoying your summer months.  This is a time of year when the warmth of the sun should also warm our hearts.  Find treasure in the small in the details of each day, they may seem tiny but they can create beautiful layers in our lives.

As many of you know my favorite math equation is:

Positive MIND + Positive VIBES = Positive LIFE

I am grateful to the whole tribe that fills me with such a feeling of enrichment and light as we forge our paths together!  Life is better with YOU!
