Breathe in Peppermint for Energy & to Fight Fatigue

By | Fatigue | No Comments
Breathe in some peppermint, Breathe in ENERGY! For hundreds or, in many cases, thousands of years, people have regularly applied different essential oils for purposes of health and well-being. But did you know that inhaling certain scents could actually help boost mental clarity? Newer research has suggested that inhaling essential oils, such as peppermint, may reduce the perceived level of mental fatigue or burnout.Peppermint has a strong and clean aroma – making it a pleasant smell to breathe in, but you can also try applying it to the back of your neck and shoulders to help support your energy over a longer stretch of time. Keeping a bottle at work as a go-to (instead of more coffee) serves as a great strategy for enhancing energy and a great tool to keep your breath fresh.

More Addictive than Cocaine? YIKES!

By | Foods | No Comments

Are you addicted to sugar? You’re not alone. In 2007 a group of researchers found that sugar surpasses what is called “cocaine reward” in most mammals, including rats and humans. The frightening result of this study is the conclusion that sugar is more addictive than cocaine.

Although sugar does not contain opiates (like other addictive substances such as heroin) it does stimulate the release of endogenous opiates. No matter how harmful a food or substance may be to the body, this sensation of pleasure keeps us coming back for more, while at the same time altering our brain chemistry. Read More

Did you know that people in cultures that squat instead of using toilets rarely have these symptoms? Rather than putting a hole in your floor, try elevating your feet in the bathroom. I figured this out when I was a young child and have used various devices including stacked phone books, a small box and a step stool. There are also devices like the ‘squatty potty.’   I LOVE mine- what difference it does make, and the children use it also. Try out this easy trick and great product to make your bathroom trips faster and easier. http://www.squattypotty.com/
